The WO.M.EN. Mechanism project is a 24 month initiative co-funded by the European Commission, under the Directorate Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities.

The project aims at serving mobility in the EU (especially in Greece and Italy) through the development, testing and dissemination of an innovative mechanism for rendering support services to employed, self-employed and unemployed women in the Culture related business, stressing on rational vocational orientation/re-orientation and on lifelong improvement and personal development.

The project overall objective is to create an Integrated Model Mechanism comprised of complementary and “synergetic” systems and methodological tools, through which:

  • Skills and competences of an individual will be identified in depth, analysed and evaluated;
  • Counseling on vocational orientation/re-orientation will be facilitated considering the potential of the respective person/recipient and of her general attitudes, needs etc;
  • Effective design (and monitoring and evaluation) of actions towards personal development and continuous improvement of occupational skills will be supported;
  • Optimal exploitation of the potential of the respective person (in favor of both herself and her employer) will be promoted.

WO.M.EN. Mechanism has been developed by a transnational consortium specifically set up for the purpose of implementing the project. It involves five (5) organisations from two (2) EU Member States with complementary expertise. Namely, BIC of Attica (Greece) which is the project leader, Region of Attica (Greece), Militos Emerging Technologies & Services (Greece), IRECOOP Veneto (Italy) and Region of Veneto (Italy).
